For me, non monetary fulfillment comes after seeing the project go live and used.  If its a building, you can say “hey see that bldg, I was part of the project that built that.” If its a software or system being efficiently used, you may say “hey that toy you like very much, we made that happen”
Nice Dax! Great points 🙂
For me, on the single project I managed, the most satisfying part was when the rest of the team looked at the Trello board and said that they really appreciated how well I had prepared everything, and how easy it was for them to do their work without complications. I was proud of the project upon completion, but it felt great to go into the project feeling confident that we were going to be on time and on budget.
I think I will chime in on this one.
I think out of my own experience it is the ability to understand the tools and techniques to get a project up and running and with luck to completion.
Once you realize you have this ability and the interest you can then spend the rest of your life perfecting and learning. And then apply this to the different scenarios you might encounter. both of your own making and of others.
This can then lead to “other’s” recognising you “have” the ability to create solutions to fix, advance, duplicate, and or to invent. Which then can lead to a rich and rewarding life of adventures.
I think Forrest Gump sums it up well..
There are certain benefits.
First, we can gain knowledge as you can get an opportunity to manage different projects in different industries. For example, IT, Finance, Healthcare, Manufacturing, etc. Second, we can get job security as it is in high demand and we can work easily in any industry as an assistant project manager or a project manager without acquiring depth knowledge about it. Third, we can get an attractive salary.
Being a able to lead a cross-functional team successfully to deliver within budget, on time and using the best available skills (resources) in achieving the goals /objectives of the project.
