go for monday.com
Hi PM Team,
Stumbled on this via one of Mauricio’s great courses and will be sharing it with my classes in the coming year. So if any of my students come across this site, you are welcome to reference it.
Ok, We have been playing with a few lately.
I see “Monday” has featured and have worked with it on a few projects, but can get expensive quickly on adding team members.
My go to for my students to use are.
Paid..
Team Gantt. – If you are a teacher you can reach out and use your .edu and ask for a few free seats and use it in class.. We have built some great templates in there over the last few years.

A nice one that is a mix of Trello and Gantt.. We have started to use this one this year for a test run and it looks and feels great..
Timelinr

Trello – Leave this one for Mauricio as he has done a few great videos on it .
GanttProject – Nice freeware – this guy has been doing a great job on this for years.

Project- kickstart
Also, a nice little program to get a project up and running. If you are a PM teacher – hint, download and use it in Trial.. download the project files and load them up. gives you a good set to use for students – (you can then with little adjustments in excel create CSV Gantt projects to load to Team Gantt.. 😉

Be well and have a good one.
Kind regards
Daniell
I’m using Asana. Its really great and helpful to manage my tasks.
https://app.asana.com/
Yes, it’s Gantter with free trial for 30 days.
I use Jira Software, is a perfect tool to integrate agile methodologies.

I’ve been using Hassl, it’s almost like a combination of Trello, Slack and Dropbox all integrated into the one application. It’s currently free, cause it’s in Beta mode!! You can even create customisable statuses, which has been great for me.
Try it out! https://hassl.co/
I am giving a try to ClickUp. They have a free version with a lot of good stuff. I like the way the sync Outlook so you can easily see deadlines in your calendar.
I’ve used Niku in the past and much preferred this to Project – much more predictable in behaviour
Can you share the link to Niku?
Last used many years ago and its undergone acquisitions etc now https://www.ca.com/us/products/project-portfolio-management-software.html
Thanks for sharing Ian. I am familiar with CA and I actually currently use it 🙂
no
Also Planisware, Primavera
Primavera: Is this the one used for construction management?
Yep, that’s the one
Excel :))
I found Monday platform for project management perfect.
Thanks for sharing David, much appreciated. Hadn’t heard of Monday until you mentioned it, but seems like an interesting tool.
Would have been nice if they had a free option with limitations, but hey, they want to make money, who can blame them? lol
For those like me who haven’t heard of Monday before, here’s the link: https://monday.com
Reminds me a bit of Slack. Just the look and feel I guess.
I agree with Mauricio, ProjectLibre is probably as close as you get to Microsoft Project without actually getting it.
Yes, and it’s free! https://www.projectlibre.com/
Mauricio , Projectlibre says free 14 day trial version. Do you need to pay after that?
Nope, still free. Just use this link: https://www.projectlibre.com/product/projectlibre-open-source
